R F LINTON AND SONS SPONSORED RIDER STANLEY GAMLBE WON THE CLUBMANS SUSPERSPORT 600CC CLASS IN 2007.
SPONSORED RIDER WINS CLUBMANS 2007 CHAMPIONSHIP
Going in two the last round of the season there was main two championship contenders Stanley Gamble and David Finnerty.
In SS600 Race One David Finnerty quickly got past Gamble before the end of the opening lap as Buckley continued to lead and pull away to win by 6.6 seconds. Behind him Finnerty held second with Gamble never more than a bike length behind but try as he might he couldnt squeeze past and so the championship pendulum swung Finnertys way. Finnerty now holds a 4 point lead with one race to go

And so to the final race of the day which saw the paddock empty as everyone wanted to watch the final showdown for the 2007 Bridgestone championship between Stanley Gamble and David Finnerty. Just like Race One Jonny Buckley shot off in to an immediate lead and cleared off to win comfortable by over eight and a half seconds. Behind him Finnerty held second with Gamble right on his back wheel applying severe pressure with Paraic Conway back in fourth. There was drama nearing the end of the second lap when Gamble got past Finnerty and the question on everyones lips was whose nerve would crack first and it was Finnertys a slight mistake getting the power on too early out of the Dunlop hairpin saw Finnerty dumped in the gravel and then disconsolately walk over and bury his head in the Tyre wall. Of course Gamble was unaware of this and carried on putting the power down hard but by the end of the lap he saw Finnerty and his bike parked up and new now that he only had to finish in the top ten to be champion. The lanky County Antrim man pressed on on the R.F. Linton and Sons Honda to finish runner up two tenths ahead of Conway and claim the championship. Of Finnertys demise Gamble said, I saw Dave in the gravel and I just said to myself, oh no I dont want to win the championship like this, and to be honest it feels like I havent won, but win the championship he did and both he and Finnerty should take pride from the hard fought races all season long.
